Yeah, the SS-N-22 Moskit cruise missile runs at about 1700 mph close to the water. Russia is selling a bunch of these to Iran and China. Looks like we need to ramp up our nuclear arsenal big time, Russia's looking for a fight.

In a total war the mullahs could probably sink one or two ships with these things, but it would essentially mean committing their regime to suicide.

The MK15 Phalanx 2C CIWS can deal with the individual threat from one Moskit and probably several but a swarm from different headings would probably overwhelm the system. The sonic / low level package does cause major problems with missile based defense systems and there are several electronic countermeasure packages aboard our Aegis ships that are designed to spoof them.
