Sad indeed. RIP Sir Edmund.
He was a great pioneer, explorer and adventurer.
I also admired his environmental work and work on behalf of the Sherpa peoples.
Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were always two of my heroes.
I am a big fan of great mountaineers and none are greater.
New Zealand must surely be mourning him. He was a true gentleman and a great man. A rare combination indeed.
