US records lowest monthly death toll as Iraq unrest dips
BAGHDAD (AFP) - Nineteen US soldiers were killed in Iraq in May, the lowest monthly death toll since the US-led invasion of 2003, the US military said on Sunday.
The month which saw the highest US losses was November 2004, when 137 American troops were killed, according to the independent icasualties.org website. The previous low was in February 2004 when 20 soldiers were killed.

Good news for them and their families. Though I strongly oppose this war, I don't want anyone to die and I would rather things cooled down over there.

It will be a big test for Iraqi security forces for sure, but they can't enjoy economic and political sovereignty until the US leaves. While US troops are on the ground the Iraqi government is nothing but a puppet.

Wouldn't the fallout create a dangerous environment for those who will work on the oilfields and your Israeli allies?

Predominant winds in the region would blow any fallout over muslim tribes.

ok but 2 things to consider
1st - does oil extraction and piping infrastructure exist that is resistant to nuclear fallout?
2nd - cradle of civilisation, tons of historic value in certain areas

If we were really an Imperial nation we'd just take the oil fields and let rest the nation go the hell...thats not a bad idea though IMO

Neutron bomb. Highly radioactive, minimal blast damage. That would have done the trick.
Me thinks Stalin, err, Putin, wishes he had some of these.

I've heard something similar from a CSM I met in Iraq. It's got some valid truth to it.
Not all the muslims are our enemies. But most are.
