Angelina Jolie has been elected a member of an exclusive American foreign policy think tank.
The actress will join US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, former secretary Henry Kissinger, and top economist Alan Greenspan in the ranks of the influential Council of Foreign Relations.
The New York Post said the Manhattan-based group's membership accepted Jolie's nomination on Friday night.
The CFR demands no academic credentials from the select few it lets in but does look for people who take part in world affairs.
Jolie, 31, has made dozens of trips around the world to campaign for refugees, Aids orphans and disaster victims as an UN goodwill ambassador.
Current member Dr Gordon Adams, an international affairs professor, was all in favour of the unusually glamorous new member.
"Bring her on," he told the Post, "The idea of having Henry Kissinger and Angelina Jolie in the same organisation is dazzling."
Carol Adelman, a former head of US foreign aid programmes, added: "It's not like Paris Hilton is being nominated."

It's not like Paris Hilton being nominated but it is a lot like Brittney Spears being nominated (well, before she cut all her hair off).

What the hell does a spaced out, sex crazed, no talent actress know about Foreign relations other than playing roles? Why are these people who have less morals than snakes held up as experts? They testify before senate because they played a role in a movie, they get appointed to think tanks because they celebrities. It is absurd.

it's about having diversity, it's about not having a council filled with old white republicans (condi excluded)

Name a movie that she has done where she is really any good. Name something of value that she has done in this world... anything... other than sleep around with other people's spouses. Heart? Give me a break. I know of plenty of people with more heart, she is a cold uncaring Byatch who defines if it feels good do it, heck, you would be a better addition popov.

she was good in that movie when she played the psychotic woman... she wasn't brilliant, but she showed that she was more than a teen nerd's ultimate fantasy. nevertheless, you might be right, I WOULD be a better addition

Let's face it, anyone who would marry Billy Bob Thorton can't be totally right in the head.
