State Constitutions
I thought I'd start a thread about State Constitutions. I'm more interested in what you find interesting, strange, worrying, or important about your respective State Constitution.
I was perusing Idaho's Constitution and found this:
We also have an entire article (a short one, but one nonetheless) on livestock:
I was perusing Idaho's Constitution and found this:
Idaho Constitution, Article 14, Section 1: PERSONS SUBJECT TO MILITARY DUTY. All able-bodied male persons, residents of this state, between the ages of eighteen and forty-five years, shall be enrolled in the militia, and perform such military duty as may be required by law; but no person having conscientious scruples against bearing arms, shall be compelled to perform such duty in time of peace. Every person claiming such exemption from service, shall, in lieu thereof, pay into the school fund of the county of which he may be a resident, an equivalent in money, the amount and manner of payment to be fixed by law.
We also have an entire article (a short one, but one nonetheless) on livestock:
Idaho Constitution, Article 16, Section 1: LAWS TO PROTECT LIVESTOCK. The legislature shall pass all necessary laws to provide for the protection of livestock against the introduction or spread of pleuro pneumonia, glanders, splenetic or Texas fever, and other infectious or contagious diseases. The legislature may also establish a system of quarantine or inspection and such other regulations as may be necessary for the protection of stock owners and most conducive to the stock interests within this state.

Re: State Constitutions
I haven't read the Texas Constitution.
To be honest, I'm more concerned with a Constitution for the New Texas Republic or the New Confederate Staes of America.
The USA, as it is, is pretty much doomed by socialist caused division.

You don't think the US can be 'saved'? You're just going to give up and try to secede?

Short of liberals committing mass suicide, no, I don't think it can be saved. Socialism is destroying it.

The US is one of the least socialist countries in the world, you obviously have a low threshold. What exactly do you see as the greatest socialist threat (I'm looking for a specific example here)?

I think common sense, rather than socialism, is the greatest threat to that

Re: State Constitutions
Yes, many of us have very little tolerance for it. It's like a poison really. Most of the useless social programs liberals want to enact I don't like, but I really don't to see Hillary burden us with her HillaryCare.Bilbo Baggins wrote:The US is one of the least socialist countries in the world, you obviously have a low threshold. Re: State Constitutions
What are you talking about, common sense supports it. Is it not common sense to protect your life, liberty, property, and those around from tyrants, criminals, and other scum who would hurt/kill you? People are afraid to rock the boat. Fuck that!Bilbo Baggins wrote:I think common sense, rather than socialism, is the greatest threat to that
