UN passes resolution against "defamation of religions"

Alongside a resolution adopted by the U.N. General Assembly this week calling for a moratorium on the death penalty, the world body passed a raft of other human rights-related motions. One of them, introduced by Islamic nations, focuses on combating the "defamation of religions."

The motion on defamation of religions has been a priority for the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) since 9/11. It took on new impetus following a Danish newspaper's publication in 2005 of cartoons satirizing Mohammed.

I will not recognize the resolutions of an organization that impedes my God given rights! This resolution is a contradiction of our Constitution.

This is a result of compromise, appeasement, and liberal diplomacy! Plus let's call it what it is: a resolution against Islam. We all know that this will be used to primarily hush the voices speaking out against the islamofascist and their savagery. What is ironic is that under this defamation resolution, many of the countries in the OIC would be guilty of defamation.

Islam = satan-worship now?

I definitely do think there is a huge Islamophobia in the world today, especially in the US, and their is also a negative association with Islam from the media. I wasn't sure where I stood on the Danish cartoons of 2005, but I did think the reaction was completely over the top from those who identify with Islam (though you can sorta understand it when they see their religion being constantly denigrated in Western media).

It expresses alarm about "discrimination" and "laws that stigmatize groups of people belonging to certain religions and faiths under a variety of pretexts relating to security and illegal immigration."

I don't think the above is unreasonable.

Oh I was wondering whether thats what it was, I was just waiting for an expert in theology to explain it to me. Have you ever studied classical mythology? I think you would find that nearly all major religions today are based on earlier pagan beliefs.
