We may have been had!
As of now, this is only rumor and conjecture, but I dcided to pass it along anyway-
I just saw on Glen beck a congressman said the Holts bill was rolled over into the spending bill!!!
HR45 is the FIRST attempt to take the rights of the populous under the guise of gun safety. The main components to HR 45 are:
Requiring licensing of all gun owners.
Requiring a photograph and thumb print.
Requiring passage of a test written by the U.S. attorney general.
Paying a tax on the guns you already have and those you buy in the future, if you can!
Doesn't seem so bad? What it actually means is that under HR 45, if you can't pass a complex test written by the U.S. attorney general, pay the tax, give up fingerprints and a biometric-capable photo of yourself (that can be turned into a digital facial-recognition number and used as a de facto national ID), every gun you own will become contraband and subject to confiscation, while you stand trial before imprisonment.
This bill would potentially make it illegal to even own a gun, any gun for hunting, self defense or sport shooting purposes.
What else does this bill do? It strikes a law already on the books that prevents the government from creating a central gun registry. Why is this important? Because, every gun owner would be required to register all of the guns they already own, and any transfer of any kind, including to your own children, would be registered as well. Registry is the first step toward confiscation. Ask those in Germany, Russia, Japan, Iraq how things turned out when gun rights were stripped.
Don't think this can happen? It is already happening. Write your congressman and senator, and write letters to the editor. Don't sit back and let this assault on our second amendment rights happen.

well what would be good is to see a copy of that test, because the rest of it doesnt seem that difficult
how bout the tax? how much is it?
i mean why jump to conclusions when you don't know all of the details?
if five years from now we look back and see that since the adoption of these measures gun violence has siginficantly dropped ( as was the case following the legalization of abortion - i think it was roe vs wade )
then all the better
i think that the aim of a test wouldn't be to see how well you know molecular biology but more to identify, for example, if you are an agressive person prone to make snappy decisions without thinking about the consequences

I saw the interview on Glenn Beck's show on Fox as it aired. It's part of this interview.

Last I heard it is NOT in the wasteful spending bill. But Nazi Pelosi and Ogongo feel empowered now and it will be back.

This was said by Rep Itse from NH on Glen Beck. The NRA says no, but no ones read the bill, even those voting on it...
Um...A permit will take a right, and make it a privilege. Im against any such control as theres too much 'gun control' as is, and since crimes at a 43 year low its not needed "...shall not be infringed!" remember

Re: We may have been had!
Since the Supreme Court ruled that the 2nd Amendment does guarantee private firearms ownership, we now need them to rule on the meaning of "shall not be infringed". This sounds stupid, but it's how government works.

Secede
I think the liberty minded states will have to secede or we are doomed.
And when we do, the new Bill of Rights should have an amendment that says this:
"Every citizen and legal resident has the right to own, possess and carry arms of any type of their choosing within any place or area in the nation.
Any government official, agent, entity or associate thereof who makes any law, statute, ruling or action pertaining to the legal ownership of firearms contrary to this shall be guilty of a capital crime and punished to that extent by any citizen at any time."

Re: We may have been had!
I don't know about flat out secession. The threat of secession and a few states closing their borders should get the federal government's attention enough to get them back to following the US Constitution and honoring the Bill of Rights. Hopefully the threat of a civil war will be enough to avoid a civil war.Auschlander88 wrote:I think the liberty minded states will have to secede or we are doomed.

If the military mounted a coup against Obama to hold new elections with LEGALLY QUALIFIED candidates, I'd be OK with that.

Re: We may have been had!
No military coup. We are not a 3rd world nation. If the American people are to restore the Constitution, it is going to have to come from the citizenry, not the military.Auschlander88 wrote:If the military mounted a coup against Obama to hold new elections with LEGALLY QUALIFIED candidates, I'd be OK with that.

At the rate we are going: Trillions in debt, nationalizing industries, Phoenix outpacing Bogata in number of kidnappings, a huge invasion on our southern border, massive unrest among the citizens, massive unemployment, an illegal despot in the oval office -- it's only a matter of months until we're a third world country.
