Eleven States Declare Sovereignty Over Obama’s Action
by A.W.R. Hawkins
02/23/2009

State governors -- looking down the gun barrel of long-term spending forced on them by the Obama “stimulus” plan -- are saying they will refuse to take the money. This is a Constitutional confrontation between the federal government and the states unlike any in our time.

In the first five weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has acted so rashly that at least 11 states have decided that his brand of “hope” equates to an intolerable expansion of the federal government’s authority over the states. These states -- "Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, [Minnesota]...Georgia," South Carolina, and Texas -- "have all introduced bills and resolutions" reminding Obama that the 10th Amendment protects the rights of the states, which are the rights of the people, by limting the power of the federal government. These resolutions call on Obama to “cease and desist” from his reckless government expansion and also indicate that federal laws and regulations implemented in violation of the 10th Amendment can be nullified by the states.

Louisiana Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal is sticking to his position of rejecting part of the federal stimulus money for his state, saying Sunday that accepting an increase in unemployment benefits will lead to higher taxes on businesses in his state.

Mississippi Republican Gov. Haley Barbour, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin say they may follow suit. They say the money to be disbursed to the states in the $787 billion spending and tax cuts package comes with too many strings attached.

also Tennessee, Idaho are considering. just how big is porkzilla????? only the dems know.

I'll bet they are all GOP states with records of slavery, and probably want to bring it back:roll:

Geez people, get over it already. Obama won. Can you not stand a black man in the Oval Office?

Oooh, this could be sooo much fun!

  1. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin.
  2. He's not the legitimate president as it is highly likely he was born in Kenya, not in Hawaii. He has provided no legitimate proof that he was born in the USA
  3. Slavery? Are you nuts? That has nothing to do with this. Get over it yourself.
  4. Liberals don't recognize states rights because deep down, they're all lazy and afraid and want to have the Big Federal Government (BFG) there to take care of them.
  5. They are not all GOP controlled states
