State of the Union Distress?
Who watched the Dubya show last night?
He sounded like a Klinton New Democrat:
-Raise taxes on some for Universal Healthcare Lite -- call it want you want, his plan is nothing more than a redistribution of wealth
-Legalize the illegals and start a "guest worker program"
-Government welfare for corporations to push "alternative fuel" down our throats
-Forcing car companies to make the cars HE wants them to make
-Pushing to extend the failed socialist "no child left behind" Ted Kennedy plan
Disgusting.
As the band Bread said back in the 70s: This isn't what the Govern(ed) Meant

Couldn't get to see it, I was out till 12.
Election results like the last one do strange things to the other party. Trouble is we will all be suffering from this election for the rest of our lives.

Didn't see it and from what I hear it wouldn't have impressed me.
To bad Bush felt the need to pitch his illegal amnesty plan once again.

I saw it. Wasn't too impressed.
The only good thing that was mentioned was eliminating the deficit in five years. Not exactly a difficult thing to do. I could have eliminated it in a single pen stroke. The other good thing was his plan to expand the Army and Marine Corps by 92,000 soldiers in five years. Of course, it really needs to be expanded by 300,000 soldiers, but oh well.
Also Bush basically admitted that he's given up on privatizing social security. Not that his plan was the greatest, but it was better than the current system.
One thing he didn't mention this year was a line-item veto. Last year he submitted a proposal that would allow him to veto line items in a bill. The difference between Bush's line-item veto and Clinton's is that Congress would still only be required to pass the bill with a simple majority rather than 2/3rds which was rendered unconstitutional I think. This would help get rid of earmarks, which is something that he did mention last night.
