Sure seems that way. I don't want to see Rudy getting the nod.iluvfreebeer wrote:Fred better pick up the pace or we'll get another fucking Dubyah, except this one will be a bald I-talian from NYC.
Re: Fred Thompson for President?
Yep, Fred doesn't seem to understand that the primary is literally right on top of us. I'm not voting for Rudy, it's just that simple.

Is Fred lazy, or stupid?
Does he expect that the nomination will be handed to him?
He'd better get his ass in gear. Cuz I for one will NOT recognize Hildebeast as CINC

I dunno 'beer. My best guess is that he thought he could keep up in the polls by hype alone and honestly he hasn't done bad at that. He's got the best illegal immigration plan left of Hunter / Tancredo and when he talks about federalism it stirs my heart but he just hasn't gotten out there and traded punches with Rudy and Romney. Gotta wonder if he'll trade punches with the Hilderbeast.
I'm still voting for him since neither Hunter or Tanc have a snowballs chance of getting the nomination and then I'm switching my registration back to indy.

Re: Fred Thompson for President?
Fred's got a chance, but he is going to have to play some serious catch up. He needed to be in the election at least 3 months before he got into it. Too many people who were hot on Thompson running lost interest and picked another candidate while they were waiting for Fred. He's now got to prove himself to try to get some of those people back.

I agree.
I'm a Fredhead.
I just wish he was a bit more aggresssive.
Then again, I saw an interesting study of brain scans done at UCLA that said basically this when asking undecided voters about the candidates:
Hillary: Strong reaction, could be pro or con
Mcain: no reaction
Obama: no reaction
Romney: Mistrust
Fred: They like him. He inspires good feelings
Not conclusive, but interesting.

Re: Fred Thompson for President?
Nice kSM, thanks for the link.
Personally I think we're seeing several campaigns imploding right now. Even MSNBC is chiding Hillary over planting questions and she dropped like a rock in a bunch of polls over the Spitzer "license for illegals" plan.
I'm looking for Rudy to start dropping off too. This guy has more baggage than Lindsey Lohan going to rehab and his "sanctuary city" stuff is only the tip of the iceberg. He's really nothing more than the heir apparent to the Bush dynasty and that's gonna leave a mark.
Romney deserves the flip flopper title every bit as much as Kerry did in 2004. I don't believe felons when they convert to Christ in prison and I don't believe liberals when they convert to conservatism right after they sign up to run for President.

Re: Fred Thompson for President?
At least Obama is on the rise.
Seriously, this whole lot looks pretty weak. I worry that there will be a weak turn out, appathetic voters who just don't see anyone they want to go vote for, then Hillary gets in.

Sadly Goat, I can't think of a time when we had a candidate I could get really excited about since Reagn ran as an incumbent.

Too True, Beer. It seems more and more we are voting against rather than for someone.

My belief is that Fred is the man for the job. What I like about him is the way he takes over an interview....He simply refuses to let the interviewer take control of the direction of the interview. Definitely a back-to-basics, no b.s. kinda guy

I'm thinking that a lot of DEMs are going to see Thompson as someone they can vote for due to his stance that States should set the agenda on important issues.

Looking back, don't you all wish Fred was Prez?
Am I right in saying that even allowing Mclame to run was a mistake for the GOP?
A Thompson/Palin ticket would have WON

It would have been nice to have a Thompson/Palin ticket, but Thompson would not have picked Palin. He would have probably picked Romney.
The Obama administration is going to hurt America and Americans so bad that we will be forced to hit the reset button on the Constitution.

I was a 'FredHead until recently when i saw how he reacted during the 'militia' hearing in 95 IIRC
He could care less about the .gov trampling rights and causing rise to these groups and got all pithy and said "if were so bad vote us out" and dismissed any more talk
So fuck Fred Damn Thompson

I would prefer that Obama run the place into the ground so we can all start over again. I see no way left to reform this once great nation.

Re: Fred Thompson for President?
I started out with Fred, moved to Mitt when Fred bombed out. When Mitt dropped out, I got drunk, cried, drank some more, cried some more, got really drunk and pushed for McCain since all of the good candidates were gone. The one good thing about McCain is that he gave Sarah Palin a national spotlight at a time when her name was only being whispered about by serious political junkies as possibly being ready by 2012.

Throw Bobby Jindal into the mix and we already have the beginnings of a strong field of candidates for the 2012 race. The torch is being passed in the Republican party.

Re: Fred Thompson for President?
I think Sarah Palin as an opportunity to grow her experience and polish her image before 2012. I'm optimistic about here and Jindal.
I especially liked the way Jindal handled the hurricanes in LA last year. No fuss, no show boating, he just went to work. He's scoring major points across the board.
I just hope that Sarah can maintain her looks for the next several years. Because, let's be honest, that is part of her attraction, along with the simple, down home, regular person, gun toting part.
