When two home invaders kicked in the front door of a Lilburn residence Friday evening, the homeowner had his gun out and was ready for them — shooting and killing one of the intruders, Gwinnett County police said.
Two men knocked on the door of a home in the 3500 block of Bob Hannah Drive around 5:15 p.m., police said. The homeowner was home, but didn’t respond.
The pair continued to knock. When no one answered, they kicked in the door, Gwinnett police spokeswoman Illana Spellman said.
The resident fired, striking and killing one of the intruders in the doorway, Spellman said. The second man ran away.
Police used search dogs and set up a perimeter in the neighbor as they sought the suspect, but they were not able to find the man.
It is not certain if the invaders knew the homeowner. Police have not charged him in connection with the incident, Spellman said.

The home owner got to his firearm pretty fast. Lesson: have guns close on all levels of the house.
